We are currently seeking Data Analysts for a long-standing Oracle Data Warehousing project in Washington, DC. This is a full-time position.
Responsibilities:
DAs will receive data requests, which are essentially questions that they are asking of the data warehouse. The DA should be able to understand the question, document it, and ask clarifying questions until the data request is unambiguous.
The DA should understand logical and physical data modeling, as they must examine the data warehouse structure to determine the best tables and columns that contain the information needed to answer the question.
The DA should understand structured query language (SQL) and be able to craft moderate and complex SQL statements to extract the desired information from the data warehouse and manipulate the information into the desired format.
The DA should be able to extract the data from the data warehouse, the DA should analyze the data found to determine if the correct data was extracted while applying hueristics to determine if the data seems accurate (e.g., the population of California is larger than that of Rhode Island, you can*t have someone 130 years old).
DAs should be self-starters and problem solvers. We seek pure analyst work from this position. DA's will not be building any component of the data warehouse.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree
2+ years experience working with Logical and Physical Data Models
2+ years SQL or PL/SQL skills
2+ years requirements elicitation and analysis
Basic understanding of SQL MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Basic understanding of data warehousing and structures (e.g., facts, dimensions, cubes)
Experience with CM tools, such as Serena Dimensions
Relational database technology
Demonstrated strong problem-solving abilities and multi tasking capabilities
Ability to perform well in high pressure, time-sensitive environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work within an established timeframe to complete tasks
Demonstrated ability to understand and document business processes
Ability to assist in requirements gathering sessions
